The engineer opens the drive, finds the exact failure and quotes one all-in price. Nothing is charged if the client walks away. RAID, NAS and server cases carry a $450 CAD per-drive assessment, credited in full toward the recovery. - These are fixed prices, not estimates or starting points. Across the last 30 hard drive cases every one required a full head transplant with a matched donor drive, because by the time a drive reaches a lab its owner has already tried the DIY fixes. Mechanical failure is a $2,500 job. Fire damage, previously-opened drives, encrypted drives, phones and forensic cases sit outside these prices and are quoted separately. - The free diagnosis establishes whether the data is recoverable and whether the case qualifies for No Data, No Charge. The client already knows the price before shipping. - The quoted price includes the donor drive, the new drive the recovered data is returned on, and free UPS Express shipping to our lab. - Emergency 24/7 service: **+$500 CAD, added to the recovery fee only**. Front of the queue, and the case stays in production around the clock, nights and weekends included, until it is finished. Standard service costs nothing extra and uses the same lab, engineers and guarantee. - Full price list: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/pricing.html - These prices and the No Data, No Charge terms are Version 3.0, effective 9 September 2026. They are not retroactive. A case authorized on or before 8 September 2026 is governed by the previous policy, in effect 3 February 2009 to 8 September 2026, which is published in full at https://datarecoverygroup.ca/service-policies-2009-2026.html Version history and the archived prior version: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/service-policies.html#policy-history How it works: the client calls, we send a free UPS Express label, the drive is diagnosed free in the cleanroom, an engineer calls with the exact failure and one price, the client approves and pays and signs the work order, and recovery starts. No Data, No Charge if it fails on a qualifying case. ## No Data, No Charge guarantee On qualifying cases, if we cannot recover the data the recovery fee is refunded in full. - Covered: clicking drives, dropped drives, drives that will not spin, drives not detected. - Quoted case-by-case instead: fire damage, previously-opened drives, encrypted drives, forensic cases, phones, and a short list of end-of-life models (all Maxtor series, Quantum Fireball series, HGST HTS72323A7 / HTS725050A7 / HTS721010A9 / HTS727575A9). - The engineer states which category a case is in on the first call, before the client ships anything and before any payment. - Terms: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/service-policies.html ## Physical laboratory - Tier 3, ISO Class 100 cleanroom - PC-3000 imaging and firmware repair systems - Matched donor drives for head and platter work - All recovery performed in Canada; data stays in Canada - PIPEDA compliant; NDA available on request before shipping ## Service coverage Free prepaid UPS Express shipping, next-day and insured, to our lab, from every province and territory: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut. ## Core services - Hard drive recovery, clicking, grinding, dropped, not detected, physical damage - SSD & NVMe recovery, controller failure, firmware corruption, chip-off, encrypted - RAID / NAS / server recovery, all levels, Synology, QNAP, enterprise arrays - Flash, USB, SD and microSD recovery - Court-admissible digital forensics with full chain of custody ## Frequently asked questions **How much does data recovery cost?** Mechanical hard drive recovery is $2,500 CAD. Flash media (USB, SD, microSD) and SSD or NVMe drives are $1,500 CAD. Diagnosis is free. RAID, NAS and server cases are $450 CAD per drive to assess, credited in full. **Is there a fee just to look at my drive?** No. Cleanroom diagnosis is free on single-device cases. A real engineer opens the device, finds the exact failure and calls with the result and the price. The client owes nothing if they decide not to proceed. RAID, NAS and server cases are the exception at $450 CAD per drive, credited in full toward the recovery. **Do I pay before or after the recovery?** After the free diagnosis and before the recovery. The engineer quotes one all-in price, the client approves, pays and signs the work order, and work begins the same day. On qualifying cases, if the data cannot be recovered the recovery fee is refunded in full. **Is my drive recoverable?** Usually. The success rate across all cases is 96%. The biggest risk is what happens before the drive reaches the lab. **What should I NOT do?** Do not power the device on again. Do not put it in the freezer. Do not open it. Do not run recovery software on a failing drive. Do not follow a YouTube fix, and do not let a general computer shop attempt it first. A failed attempt makes recovery harder and usually voids the guarantee. **Should I try recovery software first?** Only if the drive is physically healthy and something was simply deleted or formatted. On a failing drive, software writes to the disk and every minute of spinning does more damage. **How long does it take?** Some cases are returned within 48 hours. Complex mechanical and RAID cases can take two to three weeks. A specific timeline is given with the assessment results, before the client approves anything. Emergency service costs +$500 CAD on top of the recovery fee and keeps the case in production 24/7, nights and weekends included. **Do I get my original drive back?** No. Once the recovered data is delivered and confirmed, the original device is physically destroyed within 48 hours. This is a privacy measure, no copy of the data exists anywhere but with the client. A written statement of the diagnosis is available for warranty or insurance claims. **Is my data safe?** Yes. All work is done in the London, Ontario cleanroom. Imaging and verification are automated; engineers work at the sector and firmware level, not by opening documents. Recovered files are returned encrypted on a new drive or by secure transfer, and all copies are deleted from our systems once the client confirms receipt. Staff are under NDA and the company is PIPEDA compliant. **Is shipping really free?** Yes. Free UPS Express to our lab, next-day and fully insured, from any province or territory. **Are you Canadian owned?** Yes. Data Recovery Group Canada Inc. is 100% Canadian owned and operated, with one lab in London, Ontario, serving Canada since 2009. ## Key pages - Home: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/ - Pricing: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/pricing.html - FAQ: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/faq.html - Hard drive recovery: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/hard-drive-recovery.html - SSD & NVMe recovery: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/ssd-nvme-recovery.html - RAID, NAS & server recovery: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/raid-server-recovery.html - Flash, USB & microSD recovery: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/microsd-flash-recovery.html - Digital forensics: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/digital-forensics.html - About the lab: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/about.html - Start a case: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/contact.html - Service policies: https://datarecoverygroup.ca/service-policies.html - Privacy (Canada): https://datarecoverygroup.ca/privacy-ca.html
